Branding, by definition is a practice in which a person or entity creates a name, design, or symbol that is easily identifiable. A brand helps to identify a product or company and distinguish it from other products or companies. Branding is such an important part of business because it's what makes a memorable impression on clients/consumers, and also lets them know what to expect from a company. Therefore, before anything else, we needed to determine who BK Cosmo was. We helped the BK Cosmo to determine and articulate the below information:
Who is BK Cosmo?
BK Cosmo is a college of cosmetology, Branches of study include hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, non permanent hair removal such as waxing and sugaring and permanent hair removal processes such as electrology and intense pulsed light.
What is their mission?
The primary mission of BK Cosmo is to provide an exceptional education for students studying cosmetology to ensure they have the skills, confidence, and knowledge to be successful in the field of cosmetology and cosmetology instruction. We strive to create an environment where personal accountability, professionalism, and pride-in-work are traits ingrained in every student. BK Cosmo endeavors to seek and implement the highest quality curriculum, the newest and most sought after program offerings, the best opportunities for experience possible, and deliver these in a modern format that benefits students and their future clients alike.
What is their demographic?
In order to properly assist BK Cosmo to creatively convey their message we needed to identify who it was we would be attempting to gain the attention of.
By knowing the competition of BK Cosmo we can more effectively develop creative elements that assist them with their mission.
In addition to the who and the why, we nailed down attainable goals for BK Cosmo as a business, as these also help our team in the branding process.
Concepts / Sketches
With the branding stage out of the way we immediately began work on the www.bkcosmo.com website. BK Cosmo is a College of Cosmetology competing in a space known for luxury. Naturally we took this into account by creating a minimal modern design utilizing the most luxurious combinations of colors (white, black, and gold.)
The website was also built strategically for educational on-boarding, as well as a straight forward user experience.
Networking is an important part of any business; with the brand complete and the website live it was time to create the cards. The gold variant of this card features a reflective texture that shines in the light, the black variant of the card features spot gloss that engages a sense of touch when others are interacting with the card.
